Category:

A Materia Medica reference for the practitioner who prescribes remedies from bacteria or viruses and needs the classification and background of each source. Frans Vermeulen’s Monera: Kingdom of Bacteria and Viruses is Volume 2 of his Spectrum Materia Medica.

It classifies the bacteria and viruses that have entered the homeopathic pharmacopoeia. Some organisms have two remedies, for example a disease-product remedy and a vaccine remedy, and Vermeulen follows the history and genealogy of these remedies to sort out many irregularities. The book also charts the history of disease alongside that of vaccines, medicine and religion, and collects the myths and anecdotes that surround illness. For further reading it points to websites, with little commentary of its own. A glossary covers terms from many fields of science and medicine.

The US listing describes it as a reference for miasmatic prescribing and for family and sensation work. Tuberculinum, Syphilinum, the Lyme nosode and Brucella melitensis are among the pictures it touches on.
